COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Operation Stand Down Tennessee (OSDTN) hosted its 1st Annual Columbia Heroes Breakfast on September 11, 2025, bringing together Veterans, community leaders, first responders, and supporters for a morning dedicated to remembrance, service, and honoring American heroes.

Held at The Mulehouse, the inaugural event marked the first time OSDTN expanded its signature Heroes Breakfast series into Columbia and Maury County. The breakfast served as both a commemoration of the September 11 attacks and a tribute to the military members, Veterans, and first responders who continue to serve their communities every day.

Guests filled the venue early Thursday morning for networking and fellowship before the official breakfast program began. Throughout the event, speakers reflected on sacrifice, resilience, and the importance of continuing to support Veterans and their families long after military service ends.
Retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major and original “Horse Soldier” Mario G. Vigil delivered the keynote address, sharing personal experiences of leadership, sacrifice, and service following the events of September 11. His remarks received a standing ovation from attendees and set the tone for the morning’s message of unity and gratitude.

OSDTN leaders also recognized several community leaders in attendance, including Chaz Molder and Sheila Butt, thanking them for their continued support of Veterans and military families across the region.
The organization additionally thanked Scott Brower for introducing the keynote speaker and helping make the inaugural event especially meaningful.

“This breakfast was about honoring service while bringing the community together,” said Arlie Haddix. “The support we saw from Columbia and Maury County shows just how much this community values its Veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made.”

The event was made possible through the support of sponsors, volunteers, and community partners, including Ascend Federal Credit Union, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and United Communications.
As OSDTN continues expanding its outreach and Veteran services across Tennessee, organization leaders say the Columbia Heroes Breakfast is expected to become a lasting annual tradition centered on patriotism, remembrance, and community connection.
