Career Recon Cohort Wraps Fall Session with Powerful Momentum for Tennessee Veterans

Updated: 22 hours ago

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Operation Stand Down Tennessee’s September Career Recon cohort crossed the finish line this month with a renewed sense of direction and a credential that carries real weight in the civilian workforce: a Certificate of Business Acumen from Belmont University.

This cohort brought together veterans from across Middle Tennessee for an intensive two-week experience that blended classroom instruction, university partnership, and insider access to some of the region’s most influential employers.

In addition to OSDTN’s hands-on career readiness curriculum, participants took part in business-focused training developed in collaboration with Belmont University’s Jack C. Massey College of Business. This partnership gives graduates not only practical tools, but a respected academic credential—one that signals to employers they’re stepping into the civilian world with sharpened business fluency and real professional momentum.

The program didn’t stop at theory. Veterans spent time inside the operations of Tennessee’s industry leaders through immersive site visits to Tractor Supply Company, Nashville International Airport (BNA), HCA Healthcare, Ingram Barge, and Belmont University.

These visits offered an unfiltered look into corporate culture and career pathways—distribution networks humming with precision, airport operations orchestrated like a living machine, healthcare systems powered by thousands of professionals, and a marine logistics world that keeps America moving. Each stop broadened participants’ understanding of what’s possible after military service and introduced them to employers eager to bring veteran talent onto their teams.

Back at OSDTN, the cohort pushed through advanced résumé development, interview coaching, leadership translation, LinkedIn optimization, salary negotiation, networking, and career exploration. Employer panels and workshops added real-world context at every turn.

The September graduates now move forward with a stronger network, clearer goals, and ongoing support from OSDTN’s Career Services team—whether that means job interviews, continued education, or stepping into brand-new careers.

The next Career Recon cohort launches soon, continuing OSDTN’s mission to Engage, Equip, and Empower veterans as they build strong, purpose-driven futures.
